Above, find a link to a survey I created to collect student opinion about my class.  If you can spare ten minutes or so, I’d love to hear what you liked, what you didn’t, and how I can make improvements for next year.

Assignment:

1. Find a case — criminal or civil, at any judicial level, recent or historic, domestic or foreign — that involves copyright or intellectual property law.  It can focus on digital downloads, sampling in rap music, plagiarism, piracy, bittorrent, or more traditional media.  If you get stuck, I can help.
2. Fill out the worksheet distributed in class.  You must use complete sentences. Feel free to use a variety of online sources, as long as they all discuss the same case.
3. Get 20 points for using 20 letters, and up to six bonus points for using the rest.

Today we covered the Battle of Gettysburg from the perspective of volunteer soldiers, specifically the 6th New York Cavalry.

The Donner Party guided reading assignment (PDF, 24 kb)

Read the article and complete the activity sheet as you read.

This is an original document written by one of the members of the stranded party of pioneers, and it gets a bit gruesome toward the end. Give some thought to what you’re reading, and try to put yourself int he shoes of who wrote it.

Be sure to work paragraph-by-paragraph to follow the story as closely as possible.
