Here are a few useful websites that feature interesting maps you might choose for your portfolio:

Strange Maps
Over 300 unusual maps, with new material added every few days.

Canadian Cartographic Association
Maps chosen and discussed by mapmakers.  More scientific than many map sites, and geared toward map makers and analysts.

University of Texas Library map collection
Topical and historical, plus links to maps in the news today.  Their own maps are organized by type, which will be a big help as you satisfy the category requirements of your portfolio.

Every Thursday, your assignment is to turn in a map — any map, pending further instruction — and a completed copy of this worksheet.

There are 100+ plus of these in the red paper sorter in room 212, or you can download and print from the link above at your covenience.

Each week, the map portfolion entry is worth ten points; at the end of the semester, the completed portfolio will be worth roughly 40% of your final grade.
