Government I midterm

Multiple choice tip:  Study the vocabulary, chapters 1-7.

Essay tip: You’ll have to pick three of five questions.

  1. Describe the sharing of power in congress.  How do the House of Representatives and the Senate give fair representation to all states, while giving more weight to heavily-populated states?  How does it reflect the New Jersey Plan and the Virginia Plan?
  2. Describe the balance of powers among the legislative, judicial, and executive branches? Describe it in action in warmaking and lawmaking activity.
  3. Give a detailed job description of the president.  Explain executive, diplomatic, military, and judicial powers of the presidency.

Bring me the head of (the statue of) King George III

Wonder what happened to the four tons of King George III statue in the wake of American independence?

Click here for a link to an article from the Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. They tracked down which parts were melted down into musket balls, which were kept as souvenirs, and which remain shrouded in mystery, even today.
